How to watch Apple’s October 30th, 2018 event

Updated April 13th, 2020.

UPDATE: the event is over. Click here to watch the entire show. Highlights: a new MacBook Air, a new Mac mini, and two new iPad Pros (no home buttons, Face ID, incredible speed). New Apple Pencil that connects to iPad Pro magnetically– for storage, and for charging! Incredible.

It’s time for another Apple announcement event. This one begins at 7 am PST on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018. Yes, West Coast people, that’s 7 am PST. Put the coffee on.

How to watch

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: use this link (iOS 10 or higher)
  • On your Mac: use this link (macOS 10.12.6 or higher, using Safari)
  • On your Apple TV (2nd generation or higher, latest updates): use the Apple Events app

This event will be held in Brooklyn, New York— not the usual location. Maybe that means something. Also, the invitations didn’t all have the same graphics. (The image on this blog post shows as many of the graphics as I could find.) We are all trying to figure out what the graphics mean.

What to expect

As usual, we don’t know what to expect. But we can guess. I would bet heavily on Apple introducing new, or refreshed, iPads at this event. I would bet a little less heavily on refreshed MacBook Pros or (more likely) refreshed MacBook Airs. I would not be terribly surprised to see a new Mac mini but I would not put money on it. Dark horse candidates: wireless charging station for iPhones, newly updated AirPods, and a new Mac Pro. And a flying car (which someone will complain about because it doesn’t have a headphone jack).
