Celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks on your iPhone and iPad

Updated November 1st, 2022.

It’s the 4th of July, and for Americans like me that means fireworkseven though COVID-19 has canceled almost every live fireworks show.

Fortunately, you can put on your own pyrotechnics display using the Fireworks Arcade app for your iPhone or iPad. You can get it for free via this link.

You can let Fireworks Arcade launch fireworks by itself, or you can tap the screen to set one off. Tap with two fingers to set off two. Drag a finger around and make a lot of sparks. Includes “Fireworks Games” including a variation of Whack-a-Mole. Fun stuff. Get it at the App Store via this link.

Here it is in action.

Show-off move: launch Fireworks Arcade, tap “Start Show,” then hold your iPhone tightly and shake it! Hours of fun.

BONUS: send Text Messages with a fireworks Screen Effect

You can send text messages with a fireworks “screen effect” in Messages from your iPhone or iPad with iOS 10 or higher. See my article about how to send screen effects in Messages for details. (Executive Summary: write your message, tap and HOLD the blue Send button, tap Screen Effects at the top of the screen, swipe left until you see Fireworks, tap Send again.)

Super-cool, safer than sparklers, and free!
